Survey highlights cost-cutting opportunities

Irish companies do not use 70 per cent of the software they have purchased, according to a new survey, while two thirds of Irish firms allow their employees to leave their computers on at nighttime and at weekends.
The survey, conducted by Dublin-based software company Open plain, estimates that medium sized companies of 100 people could save €42,000 per annum by not paying for software they don’t need.

It also predicts that companies could save €20,000 in electricity by getting their employees to turn off their computers at night and weekends.
