HP sustainable servers

HP has announced that 15 of its servers have to date been accredited by Sustainable Energy Ireland (SEI). The body oversees the Accelerated Capital Allowance tax incentive scheme, which covers IT equipment that is deemed to be energy efficient. The scheme allows businesses to write off 100 per cent of the capital cost of the equipment against their taxable income in the same year.

Microsoft’s Olympic deal

Microsoft has signed a deal with the Special Olympics organisation that will see it donate its recently developed Business Productivity Online software to the group. The agreement was signed at the ‘Partnering for Success’ conference in Dublin last week and came about as the result of Microsoft Ireland volunteers working with the Special Olympics organisation in Ireland.

Gaelic Telecom payback

Telecoms operator Imagine has announced that its subsidiary, Gaelic Telecom, has paid back €4.4 million to GAA clubs and schools that have signed up to its phone and broadband services. Under a deal with the GAA, Gaelic Telecom is the official telecoms partner of the organisation and repays money to clubs and schools nominated by its customers.
