Sigma comes up with novel rental solution
Outsourced print and media firm Sigma Print & Media has taken a novel approach to dealing with a change of premises and a shift in its business model by offering its old facilities to an entrepreneur as a turnkey rental solution.
According to managing director Rory Kelly, the Dublin based company is offering the premises and equipment for an investment of less than €7,000 per month. Kellys aid this would eliminate the usual start-up costs such as capital acquisition, lease agreements, local service charges, rates, and solicitor’s fees.
He believed that the total capital expenditure required to set up such a business would run up to €500,000.
The premises is in Tallaght’s South City Business Park, and the unit comprises 3,500 square feet of production space located over three levels, including an eight-bay racking.
Fitted with Xerox equipment, the facility is equipped with black and white high-volume digital print and finishing equipment, with the option of colour equipment if required.
Sigma recently moved to a new premises in Rathfarnham, which left it with a facility that was surplus to requirements.
Kelly founded the business in 2004,originallyas a print management company, but has since shifted the business model to become an outsourced printing firm.
The company serves a small number of large multinational companies which need their own in-house digital print facilities.
Sigma supplies all of the digital publishing equipment required, in addition to consumables. The company originally outsourced maintenance and services to KOG Business Solutions, but decided to acquire the latter last year and fold it into its offering, with the added benefit of exposing itself to KOG’s customer base.
