Financial software in an economic downturn

In the current edition of Computers In Business, we have a meaty feature section on financial software packages for your business.

In particular, we decided to look at scalability. In other words, how easy is it to scale up (or down) as your company’s fortunes rise (or fall)?

One of the experts in this field is Alan Connor, commercial director of Exchequer Software (and a keen amateur photographer, as we recently learned).

Here’s what he had to say on the issue.

A dummies’ guide to vIrtualisation

The February issue of Computers In Business has a special 12-page pullout section explaining what virtualisaion is and how it works.

We thought it would also be useful to have it explained in simple English, right here on the blog. So we caught up with a few experts in the field to talk about the basic principles involved. In this clip, Dediserve’s Aidan McCarron explains:

a) why virtualisaion can cost from as little as €20 per month
b) why it’s not just IT firms that are buying it
c) why his parents still don’t know EXACTLY what he does for a living
